1999 550 Maranello

The Ferrari 550 Maranello was first introduced to the public as the top model and successor to the Daytona in 1996. Given a 5.5 litre V12 (485hp) under the bonnet coupled to a manual 6-speed gearbox, it was intended to be a ‘softer’ kind of GT taking the place of the F512M. Even though soft, various (private) teams used the 550 Maranello for GT and endurance racing (FIA GT, the 24-hour LeMAns) and Prodrive also developed these cars. A total of 3,000 were taken into production.

A 550 Maranello can be seen on a regular base in our showroom, but this one is explicitly different. By which we mean it has full provenance and its current condition. Not that surprising as our Ferrari was first registered in Germany on the 4th of May 1999 and still has German plates. It is, therefore, the so-called German “grundlichkeit” we offer with this very well-looked-after model.

With an annual average of 3,400 kilometres, this 550 has only clocked up 76,900 km in 23 years. It has a full-service history from day 1 the books are fully stamped with the last service done last year. It is ready to go in other words

It has a gorgeous Grigio Titanio finish paired with a Nero Daytona (black) interior. The paintwork is excellent and the interior matches the external quality seamlessly.

It is no stretch of the imagination this Ferrari drives beautifully. The V12 soundtrack is fantastic, there is no lack of power and the gearbox works smoothly and precise. Make no mistake, this GT has a top of 323 km/hr so if you are bored of cruising that will be no issue for this wolf in sheep’s clothing, he won't disappoint. It is wonderful how two characters have managed to hide in one car.
